On December 21st, 2016, eleven of Wendy’s Team volunteered an afternoon with our non-profit partner Project Angel Heart. We packed 1,000 meals and got to tour the beautiful 30,000 square foot kitchen and headquarters of Project Angel Heart located in northeast Denver.

Cortney Paddock from volunteer resources gave the Team a detailed tour and overview of the organization’s mission and vision, history and operations. Cortney worked alongside us in the packing line and shared many laughs and conversation with our Team. Rick Hamilton, who works on meal distribution, oversaw our Team Member’s assembly line. Rick made sure we stayed out of trouble and stayed focus on our work! Meghan Perkins, who is a registered dietitian wrapped up the afternoon with a talk on how to prepare nutritious meals for the elderly.

Project Angel Heart’s mission is to provide nutritious food to Coloradans living with life-threatening illness so that they can get stronger, maintain a higher quality of life and remain independent in their homes. Founded in 1991, Project Angel Heart’s delivery area now includes Denver and Colorado Springs. In 2016, Project Angel Heart delivered over 300,000 meals to at least 2,800 individuals. All meals are provided free to families who qualify. Children and family members are part of Project Angel Heart’s clientele.

Wendy’s Team has started a holiday tradition of volunteerism and giving back to our community. Every year, we pledge to donate our Team Members’ time towards helping the seniors in our community during the season of thanksgiving and holiday celebration. We will select one of our non-profit partners whose mission we feel is aligned closely to ours. This year, Wendy’s Team launched this annual service commitment by partnering with Project Angel Heart.

We wish to extend our thanks and appreciation to the following staff at Project Angel Heart: Jennifer Lackey, Matt Nigro, Rachel Raab, Rasha Trujillo and especially Cortney Paddock, Rick Hamilton and Meghan Perkins.
